canjam

Hunger exists in every community in the nation, from urban city centers, throughout suburbs, and across rural America. In the United States, 1 in 6 people struggles with hunger. Can Jam is a benefit concert/food drive that raises money and donates canned foods to the Elmwood Church of Christ Food Pantry. The food pantry serves 400 families of Tippecanoe County, Indiana each month.

Can Jam thanks student and local bands for also getting involved and helping raise donations by participating in the five-hour benefit concert. The inaugural Can Jam was held on Sunday Sept. 27th, 2015 at Slayter Hill from 5pm-10pm. We’re currently planning our next Can Jam for Fall 2016.

During the few weeks before the benefit concert, the Brothers of Theta Tau collect canned goods from generous students around campus, including Fraternities, Sororities, and Co-Ops. They also have collection stations during the week before classes begin (BGR week), and outside of the WalMart on Northwestern Ave, and Kroger on Salisbury.

The 2016 Can Jam is to be held on September 10th on Slayter Hill.
